"Sermon Time"

It has been our conviction (first my husband's) to have Caleb worship with us as a family during the entire Sunday worship service. But needless to say, training a youngster to "sit" through a 50-minute expository sermon is no easy feat. I recently got a tip from a sister who trains her children through what she calls "sermon time" during the week. They would all sit together and listen to a recorded sermon such as one from John MacArthur. What a wonderful idea! So, by God's grace, I finally got my act together to set aside time each weekday with Caleb to do "sermon time" as well. We've been listening online at Desiring God Radio. Each program is no more than 25 minutes long and it has been a blessing both for myself and for Caleb (I trust). I think pretty soon, Caleb will recognize with ease John Piper's voice, and more importantly, God's voice (John 10:27)... I pray that God will give me the diligence and persistence in this endeavor.

"I'm Three Years Old!"

Caleb turned three today and we celebrated God's grace on his life as a family. The number 3 is in a way special since Caleb's birthday falls on 3/1/2003 and he was born at 33 weeks. In the pre-Cesarean days, both he and I would probably not have survived with my condition (complete placenta previa). But by the sovereign hand of God, He brought forth a new life and sustained another. May the Psalmist's words be those of Caleb's: "From birth I have relied on you; you brought me forth from my mother's womb. I will ever praise you." Psalm 71:6
